The Northlands Church small group’s website is created to support a philosophy of ministry that includes all people in a dynamic small group’s ministry. Our passions of equipping everyone to effective kingdom service, loving one another deeply and impacting our neighbors with the gospel have found an exciting expression in this small group’s ministry.
Based on the Free Market Philosophy
The Northlands small group concept is based on a free market philosophy. This means that we encourage groups that have a wide variety of forms and content. These groups gather around felt needs and common interests. This homogeneity allows people to engage their passions in their small groups. Everyone going to a small group with shiny eyes is our goal. It gives opportunity and expression for the creative desires the Holy Spirit has stirred in people’s hearts. They are free market because if they are not meeting people’s needs they are allowed to end without being propped up by church structures. The small groups that flourish are celebrated and coached to do even better.
These groups meet on a semester calendar and on a weekly cycle which allows for both shorter commitments of time and greater focus during that time in areas members are passionate about.
The coaches assigned to each small group along with the leaders and assistant leaders work together toward maximizing the effectiveness of the group. This strengthens our value to offer the best service we can render our King. It also ensures the training a development of leadership in the church.
These small groups unleash the often silent perspectives and desires of members of the church as they venture out in response to what the Lord is doing in their hearts or to needs they see. In a safe environment they can risk with their ideas, with every possibility of growing and developing into effective kingdom servants.
They help us move downfield in our mission to Introduce Christ to our neighbors and the nations, to Pursue maturity in our walk with Him and to Impact nations through prayer, giving or going.
